Dog Ordinance
AN ORDINANCE BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF STROUD TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA, PROHIBITING OWNERS, CUSTODIANS AND KEEPERS OF LICENSED DOGS FROM ALLOWING SUCH DOGS TO RUN AT LARGE; PROVIDING FOR THE SEIZURE AND IMPOUNDING OF SUCH DOGS WHEN AT LARGE; REQUIRING THE REIMBURSEMENT OF CHARGES INCURRED BY REASON OF SUCH DETENTION OF DOGS; AND PRESCRIBING PENALTY FOR VIOLATION.
BE IT ORDAINED AND ENACTED by the Board of Supervisors of Stroud Township, Monroe County, Pennsylvania, and IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED AND ENACTED by the same as follows:
SECTION 1. As herein used, "Township" shall mean the Township of Stroud, Monroe County, Pennsylvania,
SECTION 2. It shall be unlawful for the owner, custodian or keeper of any dog, bearing the current License tag, to allow such dog to run at Large at any time, either upon any of the streets, alleys or public grounds in the Township; or upon the property of another than the owner, custodian or keeper of such dog, unless accompanied by and under the immediate control of such owner, custodian or keeper.
SECTION 3. Upon complaint duly received identifying the owner of any such dog any police officer of the Township who receives such information of any dog so running at large may seize such dog and convey it to the place designated by the Board of Supervisors as a pound. Notice of such seizure shall be sent to the owner of such dog in the manner prescribed by law and such dog may be redeemed by the owner thereof within the time specified by law, upon payment of the charges incurred by reason of such detention. Rates for such charges shall be determined from time to time by the Board of Supervisors,
SECTION 4. Any owner, custodian or keeper of any dog, who shall violate any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not less than Twenty-five ($25.00) Dollars nor more than One Hundred ($100.00) Dollars and costs of prosecution, and, in default of payment of such fine and costs, to imprisonment for not more than five (5) days. Provided: such fine and costs may be in addition to any payments required to be made under Section of this Ordinance.
SECTION 5. All ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.
